2000

  • Ray Sanders & Mary Emery

2003

  • North Idaho Manufacturers' Association founded through a HUD grant administered by the Idaho Small Business Development Center (ISBDC) at Lewis-Clark State College
  • Board of Directors elected

2005

  • NIMA Board of Directors met independently of ISBDC

2007

  • NIMA headquartered at Clearwater Economic Development Association (CEDA)
  • Dave Bonfield hired as Executive Director
  • NIMA granted nonprofit status
  • Economic Development Association (EDA) and Idaho Gem Community Implementation (GEM) grants — working with schools to develop a workforce for local manufacturers

2008

  • Expanded organization's service area to include north central Idaho counties Nez Perce, Idaho, Lewis and Latah and south eastern Washington counties Asotin, Garfield, Columbia and Whitman
  • Changed name to Northwest Intermountain Manufacturers Association
  • Articles of Incorporation approved
  • Established Working Committees: Workforce; Insurance; Finance/Sustainability; and Communications
  • Launched School-to-Manufacturing Initiative
  • Worked with King Machine to obtain Haas on-line training for employees
  • Hosted workshops providing manufacturers with training in exporting and government contracting
  • Secured USDA—RBEG grant to assist up to five north central Idaho manufacturers expand their markets through export
